My Little Super Heros

I have been wanting to do a mini session for my kiddos in their super hero outfits for quite some time now. I had my oldest {K} Dress himself and then put little {J} in his little outfit. {K} just cracks me up. When he has his safety goggles on upside down he says he's superman but when they are on right side up he is just wearing safety goggles.

Getting a picture of the two of them together is so hard right now. {J} is at that go go go age! But this one... I'm printing BIG to hang in their bedroom. This is Kenny's super hero face.. as he calls it.. they both look so serious.. they are ready for what ever bad guys come their way! Bring it on!!

This one is just so cute of {J}. Such a happy little guy.. even with a weapon! ;) Well, I'm sure that's actually why he is so happy!

Update May 2, 2011: My husband decided to take a break from school for the summer!! :) That means more photo sessions for me!!

Well, after a lot of thought.. I've decided to put somewhat of a hold on my photography business. If you already have a session scheduled with me or we have already talked you have nothing to worry about. I always get an itch to do what I love, so I will still be taking a few sessions over the summer, so feel free to email me and I will let you know if I'm available. The reason I decided this was because of these guys..

Recently, my husband went back to school. With him working full time all day and doing school full time all night, I've become somewhat of a single mom. I have found that I just don't have the time to fit photographer into my hectic little life. I've really had insomnia the last little while! I just can't sleep! So I've been up editing pics of my little one.. He is so sweet! I wish his older brother would cooperate with me so I could get some cute pics of him too! Here is one to share with you. :)

First Session of 2011

I was able to do my first session of the year on New Years day. We all FROZE! It was a whopping 14 degrees outside.. and that was in the sun. It was one of the fastest sessions I've ever done. Poor little ones and poor mom and dad!!

2010 has been a great year for me! Not only did I meet some wonderful people doing sessions, but my second baby boy was born. He is the happiest baby I know, and makes me smile. :) Here he is sporting the hat his grandma made him.

I was able to capture a lot of great images this year. I feel like I'm always growing so much in my photography and know I still have more room to grow! It's hard to pick my favorites of the year.. but I will do my best.. in no particular order..

And on to the giveaway.. I always enjoy giving back.. and I do what I can.. So I decided that this year I want to give a free session with a CD to a deserving family, who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford it. He wears them often.. they are too cute! Amazing what a popsicle will get a 3 year old to do. :) It didn't last long though. A few shots and he wanted that popsicle!

I'm not taking any sessions right now because we had a little one of our own. This little sweetie is not ours. She belongs to one of my friends. They came over to play for a bit and so I took a couple of her. She is so cute and just a week older than our new son.

And here is a photo of our little guy.. I actually had a fellow photographer friend photograph him. She is so great with newborns and I would recommend her to anyone! You can view some of the photos she took of him here.

2009 was a great year for me. I really enjoyed the many families I was able to photograph and feel I have grown as a photographer and person. I have some news for 2010. This sweet couple would be my friends Paige and Nick. Paige was one of the first people I met and became friends with when I moved down to St. George to go to college. We were in the same singles ward for a few years and then both got married about a month apart and went to the same married ward. Paige and Nick have been trying to adopt, and they remind us that the adoption process usually begins through a friend or family member. So, I am posting this in hopes that someone may read this and maybe pass it along. Then, maybe my friends can receive what they desire, to become parents. Well, my editing has been put on hold the last few days. My son has been sick with a fever and has just wanted his mommy. But I just love this photo from this session, so I had to edit it while my son is watching Word World. I just love the way she is looking at him while she gives him a kiss. I didn't tell her to do this and I'm not sure that anyone did. She just did it. So sweet! More to come of these two!

The {S} Family

Down it St. George it went from bright sunny days to cloudy, windy and cold with a sprinkle of rain. But I think we got some fun ones of the {S} Family anyway. I have shot at this location MANY times before but I had never noticed this dirt road that led to another old house and an awesome old truck. Makes me wish I still lived in St. George. I had a hard time choosing which ones to share.. so be prepared for a big preview! :)

I recently went down to St. George to celebrate Thanksgiving. While I was there I was pretty busy taking photos. This family was first. They have the cutest little boys ever! I finally got the older one to look into my camera by telling him Spongebob was inside. Too funny!

Well, he isn't much of a baby anymore. He is almost 2 1/2 but he will always be my baby. :) Anyways, I always struggle getting photos of him, even if you might not think it. I usually have to take HUNDREDS of him to get a handful of decent ones. Once and a while I will get one that I just love.. for instance, this one

I know he looks like a model doesn't he? Well I won't even show you the other ones I took from this mini shoot. lol

Then I get something like this... another model shot. All others from this shoot... not so good.

Cracks me up.

This is my favorite new shot of him, taken just yesterday.

He was in some sort of zombie mode so most of the shots ended up looking like this, infact I would say 80% of the shots were just like this lol.

But somehow, I did get him to laugh

I'm just glad although I usually only get a handful of good shots from each session with him that I do get some awesome keepers.

I was so excited for this shoot today, of course mother nature had other plans. But, when we got there it was sprinkling a bit and when we got out to check things out it stopped. It was still very windy and cold but we managed to get a few before we all froze. I wish the storm would have held out a little longer, it was so beautiful earlier today! For some reason I am always more nervous when I shoot other photographers, even when we are related. :) Andee is a very talented photographer, you can check out here work here.

Teens are probably one of my favorite subjects. They are just so fun! I was very excited that my cousins were willing to go on a mini shoot with me. It would have been longer, but it started to rain on us. But we had fun anyway. We are going to try again when we get together for Thanksgiving.. We might be blessed with a beautiful sunny day!

I have been so excited to get working on this session. Unfortunately my computer has been having problems still so I haven't been able to even look at the photos until this morning. Working on Labor Day.

I don't mind. It's actually nice because my husband is not so he can entertain my little guy. I should be outside working in the yard as originally planned, but it's still so hot here. This evening though, I'm all over it! Anyways here is sneak peek from the last session I had. This would be my best friend who lives far away from me now and her darling family. <3 them! Her little girl is so shy, she was a bit hard to get to even look at me. I loved this photo because it really shows how shy she is.. and it's cute.

My friend is expecting.. I just loved this shot.

She didn't really like our first location so we decided to go to a park where we could let her play. We tried to take advantage of the fun she had on the slide.

Then we tried to head over to some grass away from the playground to take some shots. She didn't like that. She was crying staring at the playground. Awwww...

Sometimes, kids are just not in the mood for pictures.. and you just have to try to work with them or try again later. Miss you guys!

This little cutie won the contest I had a while back. She is pretty shy, so it was a little tough to get her to warm up but she did eventually. She is such a cutie and was definitely more comfortable when her mom brought out her horses. Her mom was awesome and got her laughing and having a great time! Meet cute little 'A'.

Well, I just got back from a vacation. I now have 5 sessions I need to work on. When I first got on my computer after I got home, I noticed it was moving really slow. I asked my computer savvy husband to check it out. Turns out my hard drives are dying a slow death. He quickly backed up all my data to his server but now.. it's just a matter of time until my computer is dead. The hard drives he says I need are going to run me $300. So it might be a while before I can get it fixed. I know all 5 families are excited to see their photos, just be patient with me. I am going to attempt it on my husbands computer but I will have to install a few things first. But for now here is a preview from 3 of the 5 sessions. I will show more as soon as I can!

I had the opportunity of shooting a session for this family tonight. I just love watching how much families care for one another and often hope that I show my family as much love as I get to see doing my job. I was involved with a bunch of photographers that came together and offered free sessions to families who might not otherwise have one. Last month I had a contest on facebook for those who became fans of my work. This cute little family won the contest! They were so fun to photograph. Their outfits were so fun and I was very excited when they pulled out a tutu for the little one. Here is a preview of their session! I'm so excited to edit I don't want to go to sleep! :)

My poor little guy has had a camera in his face pretty much everyday for his whole life. I think because of this, he hates the camera. I have always had the hardest time getting him to smile for me naturally and look at the camera. Well I finally did it! I was able to take a few with natural smiles.

I don't remember what I was doing, but he sure thought it was funny.

A few weeks ago I packed up and moved to Utah county in one day. 2 days later, I was in my car headed for Washington State with my Mother-in-law to visit family. I am finally back home and starting to get my new home together. While in WA I was able to take a few photos of my cute little second cousin and his mommy. I only have one to show for now, putting the house together and planning a small birthday party for my son has kept me busy. Meet sweet Corbin...

One of my good friends had her sweet little baby a while back. When she was 2 weeks old, I headed over to try to take a couple of shots of her. It was not easy with our attention starved toddlers to get pics of this little cutie. But, we managed to get a couple before giving in to said toddlers. We hoped to try again when our husbands were around to watch the toddlers, but my toddler and myself got really sick. So, it has yet to happen. :) Anyway here are just a couple that we did get.

I photographed this family earlier in the week. It was a lot of fun and those kiddos were little troopers.. even though by the time we got to the grandkid pic.. over half of them were crying, they were done. But I don't blame them.. it's hard to be forced to sit still when there is so much to do! :) Here are just a few that are more candid, that I liked. :)

We went out in the bitter cold yesterday to attempt this session. Despite the cold, we had no choice.. She needed some head shots for cheerleading tryouts for next week. So we braved it! We were just lucky that the snow wasn't falling. It was cloudy most of the time.. and of course when we were just about done.. the sun decides to peek out. Lil stinker that sun! This poor girl was in shorts and I'm sure she was just frozen solid.. but it was worth it and I think we got some great ones of this beauty. Go Nikki! I hope you make the team!

Where is spring?

I have quite a few sessions coming up.. But the weather has been so off and on it's been a bit of a pain to really get anything. A week or so ago it was spring and now we are back to winter. Go figure. Anyways, I took these of my little guy a while back, I shared them on our family blog but not here. So I thought I would share a few because I liked them. He is so sick of my camera, I have the hardest time taking photos of him. Other photographers seem to do alright with him though.. so maybe I will have to have his pictures taken by someone else. who knows hehe. Anyway here is my little guy.. Don't you just love his shirt? :)

I was able to photograph this cute little guy when he was a newborn. Now he is 5 months old. He is such a cutie and I just love his chubby cheeks! I am friends with his mom and she is a photographer too! We got together to check out a location and shot a few pics of our little ones. I can't wait to see the pics she took of my little one. Well, I have been editing like crazy and finally finished those bridals. They were so fun. But, now I've moved on to my next session, a cute family. We just did a mini session and I think they turned out so fun! I just love that old house we found near Washington Fields. For those of you that may not know.. I used to live in St. George and I miss it so much. I really miss hanging out with this family!

Just a reminder.. I don't shoot weddings at this time. I am willing to photograph your engagement session or bridals, but I am not shooting weddings. I possibly will in the future, but for right now I'm not. Sorry! I do know a few photographers I can refer you to for your wedding day, just let me know.

As stated in my previous post, I was down in St. George last weekend to do a few shoots. This cute bride is one of my friends little sisters. She and her future hubby are so cute together.. and were a little shy about kissing in public. It was cute! :) Here are just a few from their session! Hope you like them guys!

This one was inspired by another photographer named Jess. She had a pic of a bride and groom with a similar heart on her blog and I thought "hey, I just bought a heart like that at Tai Pan.. I'm going to use it." It's different then her pic but thanks Jess for the idea to use the heart!

I was excited to find these nails conveniently put in the side of this old house by the window. Worked just perfect to hold those cute shoes!

If you haven't noticed there are 2 different bouquets. They made two and we couldn't decide which we liked best, so we shot with both of them.

I will be out of the office until Monday, March 2nd. I'm so excited to get out of this cold weather (well it's been a little warm the last couple of days) and head down to sunny St. George. I had the chance to go down to St. George last weekend and was able to do a session for my husbands friend and his new bride. I was planning on going down to take a few photos for their wedding a few months back, but we all got really sick and we were unable to go. So, I did a little shoot for them. I was so excited to edit this picture, I had to do it right away. More to come from their session, as soon as I finish editing an event I shot the week before.

They have an old fire truck at ancestor square in St. George and this is them kissing in the side view mirror, so cute!

The 'P' Family Preview

I love when family comes to visit! We don't get to see most of husbands family very often. They are scattered about the country. So, we get pretty excited when we get a chance to meet up with them. Well, this time we were able to meet up for a quick family session. We met at none other than the Union Station in Ogden. :) They were such troopers in the cold and snow. I made them treck quite a ways.. hopefully it was worth it. Here is a preview from their session. There are a lot more for me to edit.. but I have another session to finish first. Hope you guys enjoy them, and we miss you already.

I am booked up the rest of this year so I won't be taking any more sessions this month. If you have already talked to me then don't worry. My schedule is filling up quickly with different family functions and I don't want to miss out on those! Also, some of my previous clients may not know that I am charging now and at the beginning of the year my prices are going to go up. I am now booking for next year, so if you book a session with me before Jan 1 you will pay the 2008 charges instead of the 2009 charges. I want to say thank you to all of my previous clients this year, I had a great time working with you and I hope you enjoyed it too! I'm excited for a new year and meeting lots of great new people!!

After taking forever to decide which picture to order as a canvas, I decided to go with my first choice and go with this one in black and white. My hubby and I both felt it would look best in our home. I was a little leery about ordering it because I have ordered a canvas before with a different company and I was not all that pleased with it. It was ok, just didn't seem the best quality to me. I decided to try out another company that a lot of photographers have raved about. Well it came a few weeks ago and I just LOVE it!! I am now happy to offer canvas prints to my clients. The quality is amazing and worth every penny in my opinion!

Here it is in all it's beauty.. I'm kicking myself for not going bigger! (these were taken quickly with my point and shoot)

My session today was so much fun! I was able to photograph this beautiful senior. I seriously don't think she can take a bad picture. I had the hardest time choosing which photos to edit first, because they were all so great! Well 'N' I hope you like them, it was great to meet you and your mom. :)

Canvas Worthy? HELP!

I am wanting to order a canvas as a sample to show my clients. I have been wanting to get one of my little man so I can hang it in our new home, once we get one. ;) Anyways I took him out in a cute new outfit from his great-Oma and got these two that I like. Which one do you like best?
I like this one in black and white best. Did I overdo it with the texture? Most of my decor is black and red so I think this one would go well with that..?

We went to this great park that had a huge pond with alot of ducks.
